Who We Are

RJP Architects is a friendly, skilled, thoughtful and energetic practice delivering high quality architecture. We are based in Ashford, Kent and work throughout the southeast. We work with existing and listed buildings, new buildings and alterations, often in sensitive locations.

We design in response to the particulars of each brief - the site and the cultural and historic context, always searching for the most appropriate contemporary solution unique to each project. We are particularly interested in the repair, reuse, extension and retrofit of existing buildings.

We are ARB Registered and an RIBA Chartered Practice. We have experience in projects involving Listed Buildings, Conservation Areas and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

RJP Architects Director, Rebecca, is currently undertaking a masters degree in Building Conservation.

How We Work

With each new project we listen carefully to our clients to understand their needs, lifestyles and the problems they are trying to solve, in order to really get to the heart of the design brief. With these priorities established we can begin the design process.

We are conscious of our impact on the environment and encourage low-energy design choices, using ethically sourced materials and passive design strategies where possible . We manipulate natural light to our advantage and use traditional materials in contemporary ways, considering their weathering and patina over time.

Meetings and design discussions are important to us; we like to meet in person where possible and we use sketches, drawings, samples and models to explore ideas. Making models at various scales is central to our approach, no matter the size of the project.

Projects are typically delivered from inception to completion ensuring quality is maintained through construction to handover.
